USCG

This page lists the frequencies used by the US Coast Guard in the Coastal Georgia area. Coastal Georgia is covered by USCG Sector Charleston and Coast Guard Stations Tybee and Brunswick. Coast Guard Air Station Savannah is located at Hunter AAF and is responsible for the area stretching from the NC/SC border to Melbourne, FL. Northern Florida is covered by USCG Sector Jacksonville; frequencies for Jacksonville are listed on this page as well. While USCG activity can still be heard on Marine VHF, many of their communications have moved to a new digital system, RESCUE 21. You do need a digital scanner to listen to the RESCUE 21 system as they use digital voice. Although some areas report unencrypted use, most of the traffic on RESCUE 21 in the coastal Georgia area is encrypted. USCG Auxiliary activity is still on Marine VHF and is unencrypted.
