    Mac,

I am spending a week in Destin, FL.

Where can I find the frequencies and hopefully some call signs for Eglin, Duke Field, and NAS Pensacola?

There will be less flying Christmas week but might hear and see something.

I bought “The Fleet at Full Tide” on your recommendation and it is my next read.

Thank you for all you do.

I visited Pensacola in April 2015 and did some MilCom and Public Safety monitoring while I was there; here’s my report: https://kf4lmt.wordpress.com/2015/04/18/nas-pensacola-road-trip-monitoring-report-17-april-2015/

You may want to check AirNav for current ATC frequencies in case there have been any changes and it wouldn’t help to put out a request for help on the email groups like MilCom, FloriidaMilcom, and MilRadioComms:

    http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/milcom
    https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FloridaMilcom/info
    https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MilRadioComms/info

If you like Fleet at Flood Tide, you might want to check out Hornfischer’s Neptune’s Inferno about Guadalcanal and the first 2 books of Ian W. Toll’s Pacific War trilogy (he’s working on the third one now): Pacific Crucible and The Conquering Tide.

    Thanks!

I forgot to mention – if the museums at Eglin AFB and NAS Pensacola are open while you’re there, they’re well worth the visit. There are links to blog posts about both in the blog post link I included it my previous reply. The restaurant in the National Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola is also quite good.
