Photos from the Savannah NWR; 03/04 September 2014

Archives

Yesterday afternoon and this morning I made trips over to the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge but neither was very productive. Yesterday afternoon I think it was just too hot to see very much and during this morning’s visit a series of thunderstorms brewed up limiting activity. This morning’s trip was redeemed, however, by the trip home.  Between SC Highway 315 and the Talmadge Bridge on US 17 I saw 15-20 Roseate Spoonbills feeding just off of the east side of the highway. In all the times I’ve driven that stretch of highway, I don’t ever recall seeing any in the area!
