3rd Aviation Brigade UH-60M News and Update; 17 June 2014

Archives

The day after I was searching for news on the UH-60Ms at Hunter AAF, Edwin from the Apache Research Group sent me a link to an Army news story on them (it looks like I was looking a day too early!).  The article confirms that the 3rd Aviation Brigade has received UH-60Ms, but it also indicates that they’ve been receiving training on them, which is what the activity I’ve heard sounded like.  While the article doesn’t come out and state it, it would appear that the UH-60Ms are going to 4-3 AVN (all of the personnel quoted in the article are from 4-3 AVN).  Three of the new aircraft have been heard on 4-3 AVN’s operations frequency, indicating that those aircraft (20572, 20573, and 20610) are 4-3 AVN aircraft.

So far, I’ve heard fourteen of the UH-60Ms.  A list of their tail numbers and Mode-S (when known) is below. Interestingly, many of them have also been transmitting ADS-B data, which is unusual for military aircraft and I expect to see that come to an end (like it did with the P-8As when they first started arriving at NAS Jacksonville).  The tail numbers below are derived from the Mode-S data I’ve seen and all of them may not be correct; there’s certainly a question about 12-5072.
