Forsyth, GA Roadtrip Monitoring Wrap Up

Archives

Forsyth, GA – After my second week in Forsyth, I thought I’d post a wrap-up of my roadtrip radio monitoring in the area. Macon and Forsyth are areas I don’t travel to or through very often so it was very interesting over the last few weeks to have the opportunity to listen in my free time.  I focused on Fire/EMS, Aviation/MilAir, and Railroad on both trunking and conventional radio systems. Equipment used was the Uniden HP-1 Home Patrol scanner in the mobile station and the BCD436HP handheld scanner.  I used the HP-1 and it’s recording function to log activity while I was driving around and when able I logged with the 436 using the laptop computer and Butel’s BCD536PRO.

Over the course of the two road trips, my logging targets were essentially from Laurens County/Dublin to Monroe County/Forsyth so the list below covers what I could hear while mobile and portable along I-16 in the Dublin area to I-75 in the Forsyth area.  Fire/EMS conventional is listed first followed by the Central Georgia Interoperable Regional Radio System and the Macon-Bibb P25 TRS, then Aviation and MilAir along with the Robins AFB TRS.  Even though it is in Warner Robins (Houston County), the Robins AFB system can be heard from I-16 just south of Macon to just north of Macon on I-75. Finally there is a listing of railroad frequencies I heard.  I’m not familiar with Railroad operations in the Macon and Forsyth area, but Norfolk Southern frequencies are very active in the area.
