Savannah Sentry Update; 20 February 2014

Archives

Brunswick – (Updated on 21 Feb 2014) The Savannah Sentry exercise continues this week with F-16s from the 113th Wing, District of Columbia ANG and and F-22s from the 154th Wing, Hawaii ANG  with air-to-air and air-to-ground combat training activity.  F-15s from the 125th FW at Jacksonville International Airport, F-16s from the 169th FW at McEntire JNGB, and F/A-18s from MCAS Beaufort have participated as well.  Ground controlled intercept this week has come from an unknown asset using the callsign BALDWIN and MACS-2 has provided ground controlled intercept services as well.  The 165th ASOS has also been involved, providing JTAC services at Townsend Range.

Note:  Fellow MilCom enthusiast Jared Soergel has identified BALDWIN as the 169th AWCS, Hawaii ANG.  I’m guessing the callsign is probably derived from Alexander & Baldwin, one of the large sugarcane companies in Hawaii during it’s territorial years (and the company still exists today).

As always, thanks to the other eyes and ears in the area; the frequency, callsign, and tail number lists below consist of information from my monitoring efforts as well as monitoring and spotting friends around the area.
