I did get in a little bit of radio time yesterday and it turned out to be enough time for one nugget. If you follow me on Twitter, you saw this yesterday in real time – GERMAN AIR FORCE 847, an Airbus A319, serial 15+01, of the Luftwaffe FBS BMVg (it looks like their equivalent of our USAF 89th AW) flew near Savannah. They were going southbound along the coast at 38,000ft and I caught it on both Mode-S/ADS-B and radio on 132.425 with Jax Center.
It wasn’t a bad snag for a Saturday morning. Here in coastal Georgia, we don’t get to hear foreign Air Force aircraft very often unless it’s a Gulfstream getting some service at the Savannah Service Center (such as a Turkish Air Force Gulfstream that I snagged earlier in the week). About the only other MilAir activity yesterday morning was a USCG helicopter in the pattern at Hunter AAF and a flight of TBOLTs (F/A-18C, VMFA-251) flying out of Savannah IAP.
