Special Event Stations to Look For, 1-3 September 2012

Since this is Labor Day weekend, I’m including stations operating on Monday to the weekend’s list of special event stations.  An interesting observation on the weekend’s special event stations is that almost all of the ones I could find listings for are from the western half of the country!

31 August-3 September, 0800Z-1800Z, W7R – Fort Bridger Wyoming Mountain Man Rendezvous:  KF7ELU will be operating on or near 14.280, 14.070, 7.190, and 7.070 from the Wyoming Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Bridger, WY, one of the largest mountain man gatherings in the nation.  QSL via KF7ELU.

1 September, 1400Z-2359Z, N6T – Opening of Bristlecone Pine Visitor Center:  The Bishop Amateur Radio Club will be operating on or near 28.385, 21.285, 14.285, and 7.285 from the opening of the new Bristlecone Forest Visitor Center in the Inyo National Forest.  QSL for certificate via Bishop Amateur Radio Club, PO Box 1024, Bishop, CA 93514.  Website:  www.n6ov.com

1-2 September, 1500Z-0300Z, K5SRC – Payne County Fair:  Stillwater Amateur Radio Club will be operating from the Payne County Fair in Stillwater, OK on or near 14.270, 7.260, and 3.885.  QSL via Nelson J. Ehrlich, 1716 Summit Ridge Dr, Stillwater, OK 74074.

1-2 September, 1500Z-0200Z, K7A – Vintage Aircraft Weekend:  K7A will be on the air from the Historic Flight Foundation Vintage Aircraft Weekend in Mukilteo, WA on 14.240 and 7.240. QSL via Jack Rookaird, K7A/KC7YE, 8260 53rd Ave W Condo 407, Mukilteo, WA 98275.  Website:  historicflight.org

1-3 September, 1215Z-1800Z, K1R – 72 Rag Chew Labor Day Special Event:  72 Rag Chew Group will be on 7.271 from 8:15 am to 9 am and 7.272 from 9am to 2pm to celebrate Labor day and the US workforce that makes our economy successful. 1-10 September, 0000Z-2359Z, K7T – 85th Anniversary of the Invention of the Electronic TV by Philo T. Farnsworth:  The Utah DX Association will be celebrating the 85th anniversary of the invention of the electronic TV by Philo T. Farnsworth by operating on or near 21.300, 14.250, and 7.240. 3-30 September, 0000Z-2359Z, GB39RC – Ryder Cup:  Dick West (G3VSQ) will be operationg from the Verulam Golf Club in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England during the 4 weeks leading up to this years Ryder Cup in Chicago. The callsign GB39RC will be used because this is the 39th Ryder Cup.  He’ll be on 40/20/15 and 10, modes will be mostly CW and RTTY.  QSL via Dick West, 10 Hawkshill Dr, Hemel Hempstead HP3 0BS, ENGLAND.
