B-17 “City of Savannah” on the air for Veterans Day

Archives

Once again, Amateur Radio Operators will be putting the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum‘s B-17 “City of Savannah” on the air.  Throughout the day Friday, 11 November and Saturday, 12 November, listen out for WW2COS on the amateur radio HF bands.

In addition to a working World War II BC-348 receiver, the B-17’s radio room is equipped with a Kenwood TS-480SAT HF radio and a Kenwood TM-D710A UHF/VHF radio.  The special event station isn’t operated from near the B-17, it isn’t operated from under the B-17, it’s operated from INSIDE the B-17 at the radio operator’s position!

If you work WW2COS this weekend, you can QSL to:

Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum Radio Club
7611 Central Avenue
Savannah, GA 31406
