World War II Aircraft at Savannah IAP

Archives

On the way into Savannah this morning, I found out from Steve Jonas, K4SDJ that 2 B-17s, a B-24, and P-51 would be arriving at Savannah International Airport today and parking on the Signature Flight Support ramp.  Steve was already at the airport, so I dropped by on my way home and joined him and some other 8th Air Force Museum B-17 project volunteers to watch the arrival of the aircraft.  One of the B-17s, the B-24, and the P-51 are in Savannah as part of the Collings Foundation “Wings of Freedom Tour.”  The other B-17 is from the Yankee Air Museum.  The visiting aircraft are:

  • TP-51C “Betty Jane” – Collings Foundation
  • B-17G “Nine-o-Nine” – Collings Foundation
  • B-24J “Witchcraft” – Collings Foundation
  • B-17G “Yankee Lady” – Yankee Air Museum
