VP-16 Begins Transition to P-8A
According to this article in the Jax Air News VP-16 ceased P-3C operations when they returned from their most recent deployment in June and began the transition to operating the P-8A Poseidon on July 11, 2012. Flight ops won’t begin for approximately two months as the crews do classroom and simulator training. The current schedule has them completing training in December 2012 and being ready for their “safe for flight” certification in January 2013. By December 2013 they are scheduled to have 6 aircraft and be ready for deployment.
